This Month at The Dragon Café – Spring into summer!

Knowledge from Experience – this Monday 12 – 8.30 pm at The Dragon Café.
For decades, mental health service-users, survivors, and persons with psycho-social disability have been creating new knowledges through user-led research, rights-based activism, community organising, advocacy, self-help, and the arts. This Monday at 7 pm we welcome the EURIKHA project who want to map the history, current work, and impact of these knowledges and movements across the globe, and importantly want to hear the views of the Dragon Café community on the work so far undertaken and the way ahead.

In the afternoon we are being with the season and invite you on a local stroll with Jane in Walking-Works at 12.30 pm, and Sensory Planting with Georgia at 2 pm to celebrate Chelsea Fringe.

This Month at The Dragon Café – Spring into summer!

A Stimulating Day and Evening – this Monday 12 – 8.30 pm at The Dragon Café.
This Monday we have a day full of activity for body and mind and a special evening event to stimulate your senses. At 7 pm we will join John Foley in Exploring Synesthesia and will be invited to participate and investigate the connections between our senses and how they can work together. Synesthesia is the physical / sensory process where two or more of our senses operate simultaneously. Some people see numbers in colours or in spacial relationships to each other, some people hear music in colour. Using scents, sounds, tastes and touch John will guide us to discover how we connect our senses.

Start the Week Well – this Monday 12 – 6 pm at The Dragon Café.
This Monday we are willing the weather into brighter days with a Spring into Summer. Maybe you don’t get the chance to visit us that often, but a Bank Holiday gives you the opportunity and we will be open. Why not join the creative writing, singing, football, Tai-Chi or chess?; or maybe just chill on a bean bag, book yourself in for a massage and enjoy the good food ad art exhibitions. We’ll end the day on a positive note with the healing sounds of a Gong Bath at 5 pm before the slightly earlier finish of 6 pm.

Dragon Café 250! Celebrating the Dragon and St George

This Monday we will be celebrating the 250th Dragon Café and it is a moment of wonderful syncronicity that it is also St George’s Day, as it was on our very first Café!  On 23 April 2012 we opened our doors for the first Dragon adventure with a day full of music, dance, poetry and connection. Here we are 6 years later to the day to celebrate another creative day together.

There will be Open Mic opportunity in the evening from 6.30 pm but if you’d like to book a slot to perform in advance get in touch declan@mentalfightclub.com

This weekend we will be part of the St George in Southwark Festival Parade on Saturday 21 April gathering at St George’s Cathedral from 1.30 pm to leave at 2 pm and making lively procession to St George the Martyr church (where there will be open air theatre and community tea from 3 pm).
