This Month at The Dragon Café – Celebrating Black History & Culture
Black Britain on Film, this Monday from 12 – 8.30 pm at The Dragon Café.
Join us this Monday from 6.30 pm for a special archive film programme of incredibly rare, little-seen depictions of black British life on screen spanning 1901 to 1985. Revealing new voices from across a century of vast and turbulent social change in the UK, Britain on Film: Black Britain offers a chance to explore stories of migration, community and the struggle against inequality, as well as an opportunity to celebrate black British life and culture on screen. We welcome Yvonne Connikie from Black London Film Heritage to guide us through this collection and lead an open discussion.
Earlier on at 5.15 pm Ken will lead a Capoeria session inviting all to discover this Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. Please note the slightly earlier start time for Good Moves of 4 pm.
