Celebrating Black History & Culture – This Month at The Dragon Café

This Monday from 12 – 8.30 pm at The Dragon Café – African Connections – Poetry and Drumming
We have an exciting line-up of poets and world class drumming for you this Monday as part of our Celebrating Black History & Culture programme.  Hosted by leading figure within the UK’s youth slam poetry movement Jacob Sam-La Rose we welcome Esther Heller – writer, poet and co-founder of Poet and Prophetess; and Gboyega Odubanja – British-Nigerian poet born and raised in East London and a Roundhouse Resident Artist.

Mohamed Gueye is a West African percussionist based in London. Born into a large griot family of drummers from Dakar in Senegal, Mohamed learnt the Sabar and Djembe drum with his family from the age of 5 and has been playing professionally since the age of 15. We will be treated to live performance and hear about these musical traditions.

Earlier in the day get creative with Writing-Works at 12.15 pm, join Eve for our Re:CREATE Psychiatry Monthly Meet-Up at 2 pm, or find out how Crochet-Works with LoveJane at 3 pm.
