This Month at The Dragon Café – Sounds, Songs & Stories
My Story on Film – This Monday from 12 – 8.30 pm at The Dragon Café.
This Monday evening we will be connecting with the Brixton Reel Film Festival and personal stories on film that help us better understand each other’s experiences. My Story is a pioneering series of filmed testimonials, about real-life mental health experiences of black Lambeth residents. Alongside these shorts we’ll be screening That’s Not Ours, by South London filmmaker Leon Oldstrong, that explores the real-world consequences of the negative images of young black men and boys promoted by the media. Leon will be in attendance to lead a discussion on the issues raised, as well as guest speakers from Black Thrive and Creative Sparkworks.
The event is free (as always at The Dragon Café) but if you book via the Eventbrite page, Brixton Reel have generously offered to buy you dinner from the Dragon Kitchen! (there are a limited number of these tickets available, but please note that access to the event will be allowed without registering as long as there is space).
